Machines are for the most part meant to ease the burden of manual tasks; at least this is one of the main reasons why they are developed. Many of these devices that are on the market are still sought after because of their ability to meet the various needs. However even with this benefit there are downturns that often come with the use of any type of device. CD label printers are a vital piece of equipment in every office, but even so, there are a number of disadvantages that should be considered before a choice is settled on.
It is obvious that the purchase of a dvd cd label printer is not a cheap one, to be able to acquire one of these a person has to spend a lot of money. Even though the benefits of having this device are clear to many, the pressure that comes with buying the machine is not lessened.
Some devices require the use of additional gadgets which can increase on the initial cost of a good CD label printer. For example, a printer that uses ink jet technology requires that an ink cartridge is bought on the side to facilitate the printing process. This is very expensive, especially where the printing is done in bulk and it requires a lot of ink. In addition to this, the regular replacement of the ink cartridge is not only inconvenient but it can be messy as well.
In the instance where the labeling has been done directly on the surface of the cd, one has to wait for a while for the ink to dry, and this is a time wasting process. Also related to the surface printing is the fact that different surfaces of the cd can create the wrong labels. For example how the label will appear on a plastic coated cd will differ from how it will look like on a metal coated surface. This is an added inconvenience on the label printing process since it calls for ensuring that the right labeling is done on the best possible cd surface.
Over time, the labels that are made with even the best CD label printer can fade. This makes this printing choice no different from the manual printing system. However it is important to note that fading is not a problem faced in all types of CD label printing. The light scribe printing offers permanent labels, but it is the ink jet labels that should be of most concern.
